Who are Muvyu’s Teachers?

Muvyu’s Teachers are fully certified, insured, and experienced instructors from all over the world.

At Muvyu, we strive to create an open and supportive community with some of the best teachers from across the globe who want to share their knowledge and skills with students they would otherwise never get to meet and teach.

With our interactive technology, Muvyu’s teachers are able to maintain their high-quality standard of practice during our live, online classes.

What device can I use for Muvyu?

Muvyu will work on any laptop, desktop computer, or television that has a built-in webcam or an external camera attached to it. Muvyu is also supported on portable devices like iPads, tablets, and smart phones.

Our system works with Mac OS, Windows, iOS, and Android operating systems and for the smoothest experience, we recommend using Google Chrome or Safari internet browsers but others work fine too.

How do I prevent my screen from dimming during class?

If you have a Mac, click on the Apple icon on the top left hand side of your screen. Go to system preferences and then energy saver with the lightbulb icon. Here you have the option to adjust the settings to decide when your laptop goes to the sleep mode.

An app called Amphetamine is available to download for Mac users also. It is a small program that installs a coffee cup icon in the right-hand side of your menu bar. Click the icon to prevent your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen, or starting screen savers. Click it again to go back to the original settings.

If you have a PC, go to your computer’s Control Panel. Click on Hardware and Sound, then on Power Options, and finally Edit Plan Settings. You can then choose from a list of options for when you want to let your screen dim.

How do I connect my laptop to my TV?

Using a TV screen is a great way to optimize your view of the teacher. In setting up your space for practice, you can easily utilize this option by connecting a HDMI cable from your laptop to the back of your TV. You can then use the built-in webcam on your laptop and place it beside your TV or opt for an external USB camera that you place at the top of the television itself.

How do I mute my microphone?

During class we recommend that students mute their own microphones so that any background noise or feedback will not disturb the teacher or others in the class. Click on the microphone icon at the bottom, left-hand side of your screen - it is the second one from the left.

Do I have to use an external camera?

There’s no requirement to have an external camera to enjoy live classes on Muvyu - the built-in webcam on your laptop or desktop computer will work perfectly fine. It can however, greatly enhance your view of the class especially when using a television screen. We recommend one called the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 which is readily available to purchase from retailers.

What internet speed do I need?

Megabits per second (mbps) describes the rate that any data is transferred to your device. Muvyu requires a minimum 0.75 mbps upload speed but the ideal is a bit higher at 1 mbps. The best download speed is about 2 mbps. You can also test your broadband speed by visiting speedtest.net and click ‘Begin Test’.

What do I do if my video or sound cuts out?

Don’t panic... things are live so this may happen at some stage during one of your Muvyu classes. A very easy solution that can fix a cut out in your picture or audio is to simply refresh/reload your page.

The settings button in the on screen features also lets you double-check that your camera or mic is correctly set up.

What if I have an injury or illness?

Please tell your teacher about any injuries before beginning a class on Muvyu and arriving to class early lets you do that. We encourage you to do this if it applies to you as we want you to have a safe and enjoyable practice!

You can also request a class from a teacher if you’d like to receive a specifically targeted practice on one area or would like a one-on-one session. It is a good idea to seek the opinion of a doctor if you are recently returning from a serious injury or illness and/or are currently suffering with one.

If I cancel a class, will I be charged?

Our 24 hour cancellation policy means that if you need to cancel a class within 24 hours of the class start time, then you unfortunately do not get a refund. If however, you want to cancel a class more than 24 hours before it is due to start, you do get a full refund which will be given to you through whichever method of payment you used at the time of booking.

What happens if a teacher cancels a class?

If a teacher cancels one of their classes, every student who was due to take that class will always get a full refund through whichever payment method they used when booking.

Will I be reminded about my upcoming classes?

We know you have a lot on your mind, so we wouldn’t like you to forget about us at Muvyu! We will send you an email reminder 24 hours before your class is due to start. For an even more convenient method, let us know your mobile or cellphone number in your profile details so we can send you a text message reminder free of charge, 2 hours before the class starts.

Are classes shown according to my timezone?

Yes. Whenever you browse through Muvyu’s classes, the time details that show up are always adjusted to your own time zone. Even if the teacher is based in Europe and you are in the U.S., the class that they have listed on Muvyu will appear at the time you will take it according to their location. Pretty cool, huh?

When you receive email and SMS reminders coming up to your class, the same idea applies. There is no need to work out time differences and zones - the figure that is shown for you is adapted to your location.

Will I be charged for a class that I can’t do because my audio and video cut out completely?

In the case of not being able to complete a class because of audio or video failure - either due to the teacher’s connection or yours - we will give you a full refund or compensation (i.e. a free spot to use for later).

However, please let us know that this has happened and you had to drop out of your class, otherwise we can’t give any refund or help fix the problem. Let us know through our contact us page.

How do I pay for a class?

You can pay for your class using Credit Cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.

How do I contact a teacher?

If you would like to get in touch with one of our Muvyu teachers, visit their profile and click on Request a Live Class or simply Send a Message.

What if I need to ask my teacher anything during class?

We ask that students remember to mute their microphone during class so that the teacher and other students are not disturbed. However, if at any point you feel that you would really like the advice of a teacher about your practice or their technique, please do so by clicking again on the mic button on screen so you can ask your question.

Can other students see me during class?

No. Only your teacher can see you during your practice so things are always private. Students can hear one another at the very start of class until they mute their microphones.

Am I recorded during classes on Muvyu?

Absolutely not. We never record classes and we don’t ever intend to. Your live class is personal and private to you and the space you choose to do it in. Only your teacher can see you so that they can give feedback through corrections or encouragement.

What should I expect during my live class on Muvyu?

Expect to take a little time to get used to the setup process for doing classes from your space - sometimes it might take a little rearranging so that your device and mat are in the best place. Might be a good excuse for a spring clean ;)

Remember that you don’t always need to look at your screen during a posture - we know the temptation is there. But sometimes it can be awkward to do so and we don’t recommend straining to look at your device. Our Muvyu teachers are experienced in giving comprehensive audio instruction so you don’t need to rely on a visual cue at all times.

And expect some great interactive practice of course!

How do I become a Muvyu teacher?

Our teachers on Muvyu are fully certified, insured, and experienced instructors from all over the world. If are new to Muvyu and are interested in our platform, please don’t hesitate to sign up and check things out for yourself.

In order to begin teaching with us however, we have an approval process in place that requires each new instructor joining our service to:

1. Do a training session with us, and

2. Teaching a demo class to members of the Muvyu team so that can iron out any bumps in communication or connections.

Please be aware that it is only after these two elements have been completed that a new teacher may begin to list their classes on Muvyu. We want to make sure each teacher is comfortable and well prepared using the platform while also maintaining the highest possible standards for our customers. What device can I use for Muvyu?

Should I use an external microphone?

Clear sound is a very important element when teaching on Muvyu, as students will rely on audio instruction during poses where they cannot look at the screen. An external microphone is not a prerequisite to teach live classes on Muvyu, however using one really does boost your capabilities during class. It lets you easily demonstrate postures, giving you more freedom to move while still being clearly heard by your students.

What happens if I can’t do a class because of a complete cut out in audio or video?

If you cannot continue your class because of complete audio or video connection failure, please contact us straight away. A member of the Muvyu team will be available immediately to handle your concerns.

For students who could not finish one of your classes because of a connection problem like this, we have a policy to issue full refunds or compensation (i.e. by giving a free spot).

Will I be reminded about my upcoming classes?

Yes, we will send you an email reminder 24 hours before your class is due to start. For an even more convenient method, let us know your mobile or cellphone number in your profile details so we can send you a text message reminder free of charge, 2 hours before the class starts.

It means that when adding a class, just be aware of your own time zone as the time for students will appear automatically adjusted to them when they are searching for and booking classes.

What happens if I need to cancel a class?

If you need to cancel a class, please be aware that you are responsible for ensuring a positive customer experience for everyone that has booked with you. This means for instance, that cancelling a class less than 24 hours before it is due to start is an approach we highly discourage. It creates disappointment and distrust in you and our service.

Any time you cancel a class, students will get a full refund and we adjust this automatically on our system.

Of course, a situation may occur where you have no other choice but to cancel a class at short notice (less than 24 hours before), but we sincerely hope you can avoid this as much as possible.

If you cancel more than three classes at short notice, please note we will freeze your profile and ability to list classes on Muvyu until a conversation takes place with our Teacher Manager about resolving this issue.

What happens if a student cancels my class?

In line with our cancellation policy, if a student cancels more than 24 hours in advance of the class start time, they will get a full refund. If they cancel within 24 hours of the class starting, they do not receive any refund.

Can teachers take classes?

Of course! Our platform is for you to use as you wish. A teacher has the same payment methods as a student so can use your Credit Card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Enjoy practicing with other teachers from around the world!

How many students per class?

Our standard group classes are made up of 20 spots (i.e. 20 students). We recommend setting a group class of 20 spots each time so that at least 2 free spots can easily be included. However we want to give our teachers freedom when arranging their classes so this is just a suggestion - the choice is yours!

How much do classes cost?

We want our teachers to use Muvyu to get more freedom in the way they can teach. A class price therefore is decided by you the teacher. It is set per class spot and the minimum price is $2.

What do I earn?

Teachers earn 85% of the total value of what is paid for the class by students. The remaining 15% is deducted by us in order to cover the transaction fees each time students pay for a class on Muvyu.

How does Muvyu pay me?

The earnings feature on your Dashboard tells you the exact details of your payment information. Clicking on the My Earnings button gives you a breakdown of what you are owed by Muvyu from classes already done as well as the overall total amount you have earned from teaching on our platform.

The figure that is owed to you from any class you teach will immediately appear on this page once the class has been completed. Payment for your classes will be made from Muvyu to your bank or Paypal account and you will be notified of the transaction.
